Are you looking for ford excursion for sale? Check out Canada’s Automobile Search Engine: LemonFree.ca

Q: Ford Excursion?
How did you like the Ford Excursion diesel?
Just tell me what you liked and dislike
Was the third row uncomfortable?

A: For the most part, a lot of us have the gas models, and v-10’s at that, but if I had my choice I go diesel. There are more power options I guess for the 7.3, but I’d have the 6.0 instead. Forums say the 6.o could get up to 26mpg, where the 7.3 is more on the lines of the 6.8. I like the idea of being able to go almost 1000 miles on a tank if that is true.

As far as the vehicle, we looked at the Expedition first, but I didn’t like the 3rd seat. Not only was the seat on the back glass, it was on the floor, fine to tots if you want to crawl back there, but not for teens and adults. For us adults, our knees were in our chest, and I didn’t like the idea of kids on the back glass. With that in mind we checked out the X’s.

Like the Expeditions, I climbed in the 2nd seat and 3rd, there was as much room in those two areas as the front, and you have storage room too! With the kids and adults you can fit 8 with out discomfort, a car seat does take up more room than most of us would. We pack up the kids and dog, lay down the single seat for the kennel, and everyone is good to go. Other than getting car sick myself, I can be comfortable in the back at 6′2″… I can even be comfortable laying across the seat to sleep.

There are many options to, std is the 5 power points, all being 20 amps each thru the vehicle from the dash to the cargo area. One thing I like is the separate fuse panel and power for trailers, no more plugging in the trailer lamps and making the truck dim out or flash quickly. There is even a plug for you to tie your choice of electric brakes to, the wiring is all there for you, talk about ease.

Tires can be something no one really thinks of till after the point, sure the fewer plys the softer the ride, but you loose lateral stability, especially pulling a trailer. 8 ply tires are ok, but 10 ply is better for trailers, unlike you like a bit of sway on the tail.

Cleaning the window for taller people isn’t to bad if you jump up on the tire or open up the door, shorter ones need a go-go gadget aid.

The X also has one thing that most don’t, Ford put expansion foam packets into the body, exposed them to heat, and filled the chambers. With this insulation, not only does it retain the heat better in the winter, it stays cooler in the winter, along with dampening external noises… even ghetto thumpers.

The only true dislike for the X would be my gas mileage, being the 6.8 and not the diesel, I can see 17 on the highway, 10 in town, and 14 maybe on average. Other than that….. I’m spoiled with it!

Q: ford excursion?
how many miles to the galon does a 7.3l ford excursion get

A: About 13-15 unloaded from what I’ve heard. If you have to ask,the Excursion may not be the vehicle for you.

Q: How much does a decent paint job for a Ford Excursion cost?
I’m looking at getting a diesel Ford Excursion soon. I’m looking at getting a paint job, but don’t know what is reasonable. My thinking is a two tone candy blue and candy black color scheme. If candy colors are more expensive (not so sure what the difference is in price), then what would normal colors generally end up costing for this size of vehicle.

A: Well, just so happens im a painter and work for a ford dealership and you can go to a Macao are a fly by night in and out paint shop and your looking at anywhere from 250 to 600 dollars but if you want a Professional paint job it will run you around 4600 to 5200 hundred dollars

Q: How long will a Ford Excursion last?
I really like them but I don’t want to spend a ton of money. Is it worth buying one with high miles or will it need lots of repairs. Overall, how reliable is the Ford Excursion and how long will it last. What year should I look into buying.

A: I suggest having the vehicle looked at by someone who can spot problems with the rig. It is fairly simple to tell how well a vehicle has been maintained by looking at it. If the owner has maintenance records, that’s a plus. If the Excursion is diesel, the 7.3L Power Stroke can exceed a life of 300,000 miles if properly taken car of. The 5.4L V8 & 6.8L V10 are known to last well over the 150,000 mile range as well. The Excursion is a reliable vehicle, how long it lasts boils down to how well it has been taken care of.

Q: Are the Ford Pick-Up telescoping mirrors the same as the one on the Ford Excursion?
Are the Ford Pick-Up telescoping mirrors the same as the one on the Ford Excursion?

A: Yes they are.

Q: How do I remove the radio on my 01′ Ford Excursion?
I drive an 01′ Ford Excursion and I need to know how to remove the radio / cd player. Anyone know?

A: If it has little holes in the corners, you can buy a tool that releases the clips in side and it just pulls right out. You can make the tool your self by using a metal coat hanger. Cut 2 sections out of the coat hanger, Bend it in to a U shape. Stick it in the holes about 3mm deep. Spread them away from the radio and pull. Use a coat hanger that’s kinda hard to bend, not the really flimsy kind. Any thick, wire like metal will work

Q: Can a geo metro fit inside a Ford Excursion?
Me and my friends are trying to give a birthday present to one of our best friend. He’s turning 20 this few weeks and he always wanted an economy car (small car that use less gas). He’s been driving his parent’s Ford Excursion for a while and it sucks a lot of gas.

He’s been dreaming of getting a nice Toyota Yaris hatchback or vw rabbit. But we can’t really afford to get that so we got him a nice spunky, yellow Geo Metro hatchback.

Our goal is to fit the geo metro in the back of his ford excursion. Will that fit????

A: No it will not fit, you pumkinsquirt! What are you thinking??

Q: What is the miles-per-gallon on a 04-05 Ford Excursion?
What is the miles-per-gallon on a 04-05 Ford Excursion? Or, if you know, any other models? Thanks!

A: There are no gas mileage estimates for these truck due to the fact that they are over 8500lb G.V.W.R. as per guidelines set by the E.P.A.

Q: Is a Ford Excursion a good first car for a teenager?
Ok ok i know a lot of people will say no. Put aside the fact of the gas mileage and the inexperience. Now besides those 2 bad reasons, is a ford excusion a bad first car? By the way my dad is considering giving me his so thats why I am asking about the excursion. Thank You
Id like to know your opinion on the subject, not just weather you agree or disagree, please back it up with reasoning, Thank You

A: Yes. My daughter learned to drive in my 2002 Big X at 16 and she used it for school and work till her was 18. She payed for her own fuel. She has since bought herself a 93 F-250 4X4. She has never gotten a speeding ticket or gotten into an accident. That may be due to her state of mind while driving. I don’t think I would have done this if I had not felt that she would not be a courteous or responsible driver.

Q: Is 147,000 miles a lot for a texas owned 2000 Ford Excursion?
Im looking at a 2000 Ford Excursion with the 7.3 diesel in the limited package. Also what is the lifespan on engine components like the turbo.

A: At 147K miles the 7.3 PSD is just getting broken in. You can expect two to three times that many miles on that engine with proper maintenance. Turbo is the same deal, keep your oil changes frequent (3000-5000 miles) and use quality filters and you will have no problems. The 4R100 tranny behind the PSD is decent and with a few cheap after market upgrades (added tranny cooler and a shift kit) can be made extremely reliable. Also to note is that the PSD equipped version of the excursion was able to get 18-22 mpg all day long while the V-10 version was a pig in that regards.

If you can score a good price on it I would suggest you buy it and enjoy it.

Q: How does the GMC Yukon XL’s gas mileage compare to the Ford Excursion? ?
I want to know which suv has the best gas mileage out of the ford excursion and the gmc yukon xl. Both vehicles are quite large and I know they love gas.

A: Probably the Yukon gets the better mileage, it has an engine which shuts off half the cylinders when you don’t need the power.

Q: i would like get advice on installing a detroit diesel 600 series in a ford excursion?
I bought a 2005 ford excursion with a power choke. I want to pull it and drop a detroit diesel 600 series in it. any advice

A: do you mean the 60 series… if so it wont fit…

well unless you dont mind putting it in the back… and making a whole new rear engine/transmission cradle…

Q: How can I disable the automatic locks on the doors for a 2003 Ford Excursion?
I know that there is a procedure for GM vehicles that owners can follow to disable the auto-locking system. Where can I find this procedure for Ford vehicles?

A: There are actually a couple of ways. You can remove the driver’s door panel then unplug the lock actuator and switch. You might have to do this to all the doors. If that doesn’t do it or sounds to hard, you can pull the fuse that controls it. Doing so may however cause other systems to be affected.

You might be able to find a repair manual with an electrical diagram and component locations. If you can, look up the central locking system control and disconnect it, as long as it doesn’t control anything else important.

Q: Why do the interior lights on my 2004 ford excursion stay on wearing down the battery?
I just this bought excursion and had it detailed. I figured the detailers wore the battery down. I can’t however turn the interior lights off. Would this be a bad switch or what?

A: The door switches on fords are famous for this. The switches stick and the car basically thinks the door is open even when its closed. The switch is intergrated into the latch mechanism inside the door. The pin gets a little dirty and sticks in. They are cheap to replace but taking them out and spraying with a little brake cleaner or starting fluid fixes them up like new 99.9% of the time!

Q: Can I change out the middle console for a seat in a Ford Excursion?
I have a 2000 Excursion and want to replace the middle console between the front two captains’ chairs with a seat. Any advice. Thanks!

A: what are you going to replace it with… or are you just taking the whole thing out. if your replacing it make sure you get someone who does quality work. not just your everyday install place. there is alot of fabrication involved. you should watch pimp my ride on mtv.. it sounds stupid but youll at least get a taste of what is all involved. and just about all the shows they do some kind of dash work.

Are you looking for dodge charger for sale? Check out Canada’s Automobile Search Engine: LemonFree.ca

Q: Dodge Charger?
I found a 72′ Dodge Charger for $3000 and i can do a lot of work myself on it. What is it worth when it is all fixed up?

A: As a Muscle car collector I can tell you that True documented muscle cars are bringing high dollars, they are bringing in premium prices. The muscle cars I buy and sell are worth between $150′000 and $350′000. Who said they are not at a premium. In fact, I just sold my very rare Yenko Chevelle because the prices are so good. Here’s the hitch, most people can’t or won’t lay out that much for an original that they probably shouldn’t drive. So the next best thing is to build a clone. How do you clone? You get a cheap version of the car you like and build it up as a tribute to a high dollar Muscle car. Now, you have something cool and something you can drive. Clone car prices are on the rise which makes the originals even worth more to collectors. Now, I am assuming yours is a plain Jane type. Production numbers run like this: 2dr cpe 7′803, 2dr ht 45′361, 2dr SE ht 22′430. The highest hp engine was the 440 and was rated @ 280 hp. Nothing there to attract many collectors, thus lowering the value to them. I know, for all you Mopar nuts out there, the 440 six-pack was offered in the brochure, but was canceled before initial production. I need more info as to what might be special about your particular car. Is it a Rallye? 440? How many original miles? I will give you the high, low and middle ground. If you clone something cool or turn it into a street rod, you could catch the right crowd and it could sell for up to 3 times the restored value. Restored, with the limited info you gave us to go on…. Assuming that you took everything apart and did it right, Low is $10′000, high $16′000. Factory cars with 280 hp at the most just aren’t anything that special when it come to collecting them. Unless there is something unique about them. Okay, if your car is one of the 7′803 2dr cpe, and has tons of options and was the right color and….. well you get the drift, then it might stand a chance of being a well sought after car in the future. My advice, have fun with it now, worry about the rest later. Forget the prices they quote you out of books. Look around your area of state. What are similar cars selling for. Look on line, look at auctions. DON’T take my word as gold, because you didn’t give us very much info to go on. What’s the most you would pay for a car from the 50’s? $150′00? $250′00? Barrett Jackson Auction sold Howard Hugh’s car for $1.5 million, because it was something special. So, do the research, break your Vin down, and your data plate, check out how rare it actually is, then you’ll have a better idea.

Q: Dodge charger?
Will a dodge charger with under 100k miles, year 2005-2007 be under 6000$ in 2-2.5 years?
Right now i found a 2006 with 29k miles on it in good cond. and it was 11,000$, Will the value go down with the new 08 charger and the new challenger?

A: It doesn’t matter that the new challlenger is coming out… the older it gets the more the value is going to go down. If it’s worth 11 now.. it may be around 6 in 2.5 years

Q: dodge charger?
i just got a dodge charger base 2.7 model which i regret getting now i should have went w/ the rt cuz im used to the way my tc used to take off …..even though i really like the car what can i do to give it little bit more horse power that wouldn’t hurt my pockets??????????

A: there’s not a lot that you can do for the 2.7 engine to boost the power of it a lot,it will pretty much run like it is but if you modify those sometimes its hurts the running of them rather than help it,really not much you can do to help that one, good luck.

Q: DODGE CHARGER?????!!?
Does anyone have a black Dodge Charger?? I might be geting one in the near future and I love them!!! Do they ride smoothly??! Ever had any problems? And would you reccomend me getting one too?

A: the charger is a chicks car. i started seeing more girls and old people driving the charger, challenger, camaro more than the mustang these days, plus it has 4 doors.

Q: How long will a 2006 dodge charger last for?
Ive been car hunting lately and the charger has caught my eye. I’m not really into the whole buying a new car idea because of financial reasons, but i have found a used 2006 Dodge Charger R/T with 79,000 miles on it. I was wondering how long the car can run for and if it would be worth it. The owner says that all scheduled maintenance has been completed and has several other upgrades to the car. Whats your opinion?

A: If you treat her right, shet will last well over 250K miles.

Q: How is a 2006 dodge charger in the winter?
I live in iowa and we can get a lot of snow in the winter. I know the charger is rear wheel drive but i was told buy some people that it has traction control and it helps in the winter. What are your thoughts on the performance of a new dodge charger in the winter?

A: RWD Chargers, Magnum’s & 300’s are pretty stable in winter driving conditions with ESP and if you add 4 winter tires to the car.

However, the Dodge Charger has come out with a AWD version for 2007 like the Magnum & 300’s. These AWD versions are incredible in the snow and ice!

Q: Does the Dodge Charger and the Dodge Caliber have bad blind spots?
My mom is letting me get a car this summer, and she is only going to let me get one if they don’t have horrible blind spots. She is going to let me get either the Dodge Charger or the Caliber. Right now, she has a PT Cruiser, and it has the worst blind spots ever! Please give me the best info you can. I am leaning more towards the Dodge Charger!

A: for thos ethat like the pt cruiser…I say it is fine if they are enjoying that type of body style…but I believe it is dodges worse vehicle to be on the road…as for the charger …it is possibly the best car for you out there …it has an excellent safety rating(even car&driver magazine agrees)..but for a new driver it is a fun and easy car for all to drive..it is one of the best combinations of fun safety and ride and drive around…and as all vehicles may have blind spots….I believe you will find charger is even good to see rear ..side ..and front views for all…the rear glass is a little more slant view from rear view but is set to the ground right by thhe body to see very good all around…pt cruiser on the other hand is a driving hazard for operator as well as everyone else on road…even from front windshield it is rediculous they cause accidents…it reminds me of the earliest cars that you can barely see out of them enough to do anything but guess your distance to obsticles or other motorist..she should do you and us all a favor and trade it in and get you and her both a new dodge..they offer a big discount when doing this ..and you both will be happier and safer…good luck and hope you get charger…you will love it…

Q: How much did a Dodge Charger cost in 1977?
I am looking for a price of a dodge charger in 1977. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

A: Buy the Hemmings book at any bookstore. You will have a large selection of Chargers to choose from. Starting off with the original 1968 muscle car with the (383) (440) and the famous Hemi motor.

Q: What is good engine for my 69 dodge charger?
Does anyone know an engine that
Would be good for my 69 dodge charger. A list would be very helpful.

A: First off due you want to keep it stock or custom. Second do you care about gas mileage and performance or do you want a resto-rod with all new up to date systems. You can use any of the following engines for either construction. 426 Hemi, 383, 440, 318 are all good engines for what you want. Third do you want to race it? I prefer the resto-rod setup. I would use a 440 fuel injected and possibly with a turbo. This gives you good power as well as better gas mileage then came with the original engine. If cost is involved go with the 318 fuel injected and add the turbo. This can be a real screamer. The 318/340/360 engines are available just about everywhere. The 440 is harder to find and was first made as a truck engine for Dodge trucks. The 383 was the same but is harder to work on. Both give good performance. You can contact MoPar Parts and they will help you. There are after market items you can purchase that will also help performance. Have you thought about what type of transmission you wish to use? I would suggest the older 727 torque flight, it would work well with any of the engines and very strong. Also one of the newer 6 speed manual are quite good with a newer shifter kit added. If you go with the manual don’t forget the pistol grip shifter. What ever you decide remember MoPar FOREVER!!!!

Q: Is it possible to change the transmission on a Dodge Charger from semi-automatic to a full manual?
I’ am basically saying if it’s possible to use a transmission from a Dodge Challenger SRT8 and install it on a Dodge Charger R/T. Thank you.

A: if you have the donor car yes.

you would have to change the trans, pedals, rear end, axles, drive shaft, and out hub bearings. then get a Diablo Predator and take it to a tuner to work out the electrical kinks.
it has been done a couple of times.

Q: How to make a 2006 Dodge Charger look good?
So im about to get a 2006 Dodge Charger and I plan on tricking it out. What all kinds of different things should I do to make the car tricked out? I already plan on adding wheels (Rims), tinted windows, lambo doors, and a stereo system. Is there anything else I should do to it or do I have everything covered?

A: ENGINE UPGRADES ALL THE WAY. . . . forget the lambo doors . . make that thing crank 600 horses of pure muscle thats what mopars are made for. . not throwing big ass rims on it so it can get broken into and stolen

Q: How much should I pay for a 1973 dodge charger?
My dream car is a 1973 dodge charger, and I am planning on buying a used one, but I don’t know how much to pay. That and any other infoation about this car, wouldd be great.

A: you,ll have to wait and actually see what you find, a good one for those cars are selling anywhere from 1500 bucks all the way up to 5-6 grand just for one to restore right now,the better the condition of one you find the more you,ll have to pay for it but the less work you,ll have to do to it,good luck

Q: If you add dual flowmasters to your Dodge Charger will your warranty get voided?
I just bought a 2009 Dodge Charger. I want to add a Viper alarm/remote start and dual flowmasters. Will Dodge void my warranty because I added the remote start and the dual flowmasters to the car?

A: no they wont void the warranty just because you added those things to it,anything that affects the emission system might void it but adding mufflers wont void it nor will the remote start, good luck.

Q: what can i do to improve the performance of my dodge charger?
My car is a 2006 dodge charger sxt. It has a 3.5 liter v6 engine with 250 hp. What are some things i could do to it to make it faster. Some one told me i should chip it but i’m not sure how much that would improve performance. Please give me some suggestions and maybe prices of what some performance parts would cost. And please no comments saying that i should have got a v8 charger, because they costed way more and just weren’t an option.

A: add you a programmer to it, it allows you to gain in rpm,s and also over ride the top end of it as well as advance the timing and alter the fuel air ratio on it,that’s the best bang you can get for your money these days on adding horse power to them, don’t waste your time though on a chip for that car their useless, good luck.

Q: Dodge Charger with navigation system how do you change clock?
I can’t figure out how to change the clock on my Dodge Charger with the Navigation system screen in the dash.

A: Open your owners manual and read. I am positive its in there. If not take it to the dealer and have them show you.

Q: Dodge Caliber?
Is there a big difference between a Dodge Caliber and a Pontiac Vibe? I can’t decide between the two.

A: Yes these two are built on different platforms one is GM and the other Dodge. meaning they are totally different, I would look at the resale. I have to agree that the vibe needs a revamp on looks. The caliber has a lot of accessories that are unique.

I’d go for the Caliber.

Q: Dodge caliber?
I want to sell my Dodge Caliber SE 2007. How much could it be worth ?

I have 17 000 km. It is like new. I had it since march and paid 19 500$

A: kbb.com

Q: Does the Dodge Caliber have enough space for traveling with a baby?
We are going to be renting a car for a few days in June for a Wedding we are going to out of state and have found that we can rent a Dodge caliber for about the same as a mid-size sedan. We have been wanting to try out the new dodge Caliber (just for fun-won’t be buying another vehicle for a few years), so thought this might be a good time to try it, but want to make sure we will have the cargo space we need. We will be traveling with our 14 month old, so will need to fit the stroller, pack n play and all of our luggage (for two adults and a baby for 3 days, so not too much) plus we will need to put her car seat in the back seat. Anyone know from experience if we will have enough room? I know it will be a tight fit even in a midsize, so we may need to go for a larger vehicle, but if we can fit it all in the Caliber at a lower price, we would be very happy!

A: The Caliber will fit all of you very comfortably. I have one right now and took 2 of my sisters and 2 of their friends on a trip and I was able fit everyone and everything in my car.

Q: How do you move the rear view mirror in a 2008 Dodge Caliber?
just got a 2008 Dodge Caliber and i can’t move the rear view mirror, is there a button that moves it or something? please help!

A: The mirror on the windshield correct? You use your hand. If its the exterior mirrors, you must have manual mirrors. So you will also need to move those by hand.

Q: Should I buy a Dodge Caliber? Does anyone have negative or positive feedback regarding the Caliber? ?
I have test driven a HHR and really enjoyed it. However, I’m not a huge fan of the design. I absolutely love the amount of cargo space. Since I have a lot of music and sports equipment to haul around I need something with significant storage. I really like the Dodge Caliber as well. I hear that they severely lack in performance though. Any thoughts on what I should do would be appreciated.

A: i bought a 2009 caliber last november and i love it they have different models to choose from i have the stx blue it haves a cooler in the glove box sat radio free for a year and now they have a major discount on them . it runs pretty good for the price real good on gas a hhr will be more on gas you can get a all wheel drive one they have some with a neat package which haves a neat hood scoop on it some have tilt down speakers in the hatch for tailgating alot of headroom . some have the Bluetooth in the radio . in all in all i love my car for the price

Q: How many is too many miles for an 07 dodge caliber?
How many is too many miles for an 07 dodge caliber?

A: anything over,30 thousand would be considered high mileage for the year of it,but i have seen some with a lot more than that on them, people are driving more than the national average these days,i wouldn’t buy an 07 if it had over 40 thousand on it though, that would mean your not going to get as many good driving miles from it as one with less miles, the average is about 15 thousand a year,so you can figure it on this amount, good luck.

Q: Would Dodge Caliber be a safe bet car to take for a snowboarding trip?
I’m thinking about renting a car for the snowboarding trip. From what I have researched so far, Dodge Caliber seem like the best opition, value wise and safety wise to rent for the snowboarding trip since it’s AWD and has some good quality of an SUV. Does it have snow tire capability? Since it’s my first trip, I want to be safe as possible. If it isn’t, can someone suggest another good car? Thanks!

A: how abt a Dodge Charger? or a Chevy Malibu

Q: How to get more horsepower for 2007 Dodge Caliber?
Just wondering how to get more horsepower for my dodge caliber sxt.
i’ve got a 2.4 liter non turbo engine, getting me respectively 174 horsepower.. but I want more. Any suggestions?
Lol. I didn’t think before I bought it. I was graduating high school in a week and was stoked to be getting a car. But yeah, there’s no limit on money, really.

A: try a cold air induction kit, maybe a header and muffler kit.speed and sound.

Q: How To Wire Altezza Euro Tail Lights on 2008 Dodge Caliber?
I bought some Altezza euro chrome tail lights for my 2008 Dodge Caliber and want to replace the stock tail lights. The Altezza tail lights have three holes for bulbs as opposed to the stock ones only having two. How do I install these? Do I have to splice the wires or what? Thank you.

A: So the lights didn’t come with a wiring diagram? It will be hard for anyone to tell you here without looking at the new taillights.

Q: How do you reprogram a key fob for a 07 Dodge Caliber?
How do you reprogram a key fob for a 07 Dodge Caliber?

I just purchased a key fob online. I dont want to take it to a dealer unless I really have to.

Is there a “procedure” you can do? Thanks.

A: A key fob is not a Sentry key. The procedure requires a dealer tech or a knowledgeable, well equipped automotive locksmith. These systems are not end user friendly. Most dealers and locksmiths will not even attempt to program fobs/keys not from their stock for liability reasons.

Q: Anyone know of problems with the CVT being used in the Dodge Caliber?
Does anyone know of any problems or concerns with the Continuously Variable Transaxle being used in the Dodge Caliber (or in general)? I have heard they are very expensive if they need to be replaced. Any other problems or concerns? Or personal experience with them? My wife is looking at purchasing one, and we want know of any problems ahead of time if possible. Thanks.

A: CVT’s have been around for a long time…and they are really very simple designs. I would not worry about longevity/durability problems anymore than I would about a Traditional Automatic transmission. Heck…most regular automatics die between 120-150,000miles and cost a bundle!

Is your wife sold on the Caliber? They are nifty looking as a replacement of the old Neon…However, from what I have seen the Fuel Mileage is not nearly as good as some other Compact Wagons on the market…I have been looking at the Ford Focus Wagon lately as a replacement for my aging 98 Escort Wagon and the Focus Wagon is rated at 37mpg highway…whereas the info I have read on the Caliber is upper 20s on the Highway…22-24 in town is all… Just ‘Food For Thought’ with gas hovering at $3.00/gallon with no end in sight… Caliber is neat looking though!

Q: How do you adjust the rear brakes on a Dodge Caliber?
I have a 2007 Dodge Caliber.

I have been told two different ways to adjust the rear brakes.

1. While driving in reverse pump the brake a few times.
2. Pump the emgerency brake.

Which one or both?

And how often should I do it?

Thanks a million!!!

A: should be disk brake is it not.. if its disk you dont have to adjust them but you might have to adjust parking brake.. if its old hub style you can adjust by backing up if everything is working the way it should many time it dont …but there was a slot in the back of plate you used a brake adjustment tool since your car is 07 id say its disk brake all the way around and there wil be no adjustment to be made just pump. what you have been told work on old brakes shoe type not disk brake pads

Q: Is the 2008 Dodge Caliber a reliable vehicle?
I am looking to buy a new vehicle and I know of a 2008 Dodge Caliber that is for sale from a private seller for just $6,800 with just 41,000 miles on it. I have heard that Dodge doesn’t make very reliable vehicles so I just want to know if anyone has any suggestions.

A: So you heard that dodge doesn’t make reliable vehicles? Totally false. Dodge vehicles if taken care of are very reliable vehicles.

Q: I am looking at buying a Dodge Caliber, is it Family Friendly for a family with twins?
I was looking at the Dodge caliber for a new vehicle for my new family. I might be having twins and was wondering if it was a good idea to get this vehicle of I do have twins.

A: this is a supurb car. the rear seat concave making what seems to be a small back seat much roomier than it feels. pluss the hatch back style in great for stoage on all your twins bring along things. One of the most reliable vehicles on the market today. I love mine. I looked at toyota, honda, kia, chevy, and the best value for the money and safty was my caliber.

Are you looking for 64 impala for sale? Check out Canada’s Automobile Search Engine: LemonFree.ca

Q: How to install a fuel pump in a 64 IMPALA?
Chevy Impala either 64 or 65. want to know cost of a new part and where I could get it. and how its intalled

A: This is one of the easiest repairs you can do. A lot of parts stores have them (if not, they now where to get them) and it’s only a couple of bolts and hoses and a gasket.

Q: Will a 55 Belair Transmission fit in a 64 Impala?
I have a 350 turbo transmission out of a 55 Bel Air and want to replace the powerglide transmission in a 64 Impala with it. Will they bolt up together?

A: The Turbo Hydra-Matic 350 didn’t come on the scene until the 1960’s; the only automatic available for 1955 was the iron-case Powerglide, so the Turbo must be a retrofit. In 1963, GM completely redesigned the Powerglide for an aluminum case, and the valve body with it. All of the above should fit on the Chevrolet Thriftmaster 235/261, Turbo-Thrift 194/230/250/292, and Turbo-Fire 265/283/327/350/307/262/305, as all used the same bellhousings and flexplates; the aluminum-case Powerglide and the Turbo 350 and 400 are semi-compatible in terms of shift pattern (PRNDL vs. PRND21). Be advised that the Turbo 350 may need different-sized fluid cooling lines from the Powerglide. Both are designed for GM Dexron ATF; full-synthetic Dexron VI is the latest hydraulic fluids development for both.

Q: would I have to pass emissions if I switch out my old motor out of my 64 impala to a 350 motor?
I live in Texas and im concerned about passing emissions with my 64 impala being that it has a carborated 350 chevy motor.

A: That car is exempt from emissions tests as they never started putting any emissions on cars until 1966 and any antique car is exempt.

Q: Is anyone selling a 64 impala in Oregon?
So I want my first car to be a 64 Impala ,but i want it to be nice inside, and out in good conditions. Im looking for something around Portland, Gresham, area. Just make sure it’s Cheap, not very many miles, and nice.

A: The only “cheap” 1964 Impala (that’s avalable) is the one in your dreams.

These cars will sell for $30,000 restored

Q: what is the biggest size engine you can put on a 64 impala?
i have a 64 impala with no engine what is the biggest size engine i can pt in it

A: That generation of Impala (1961-1964) came from the factory with up to the 409, which is probably actually bigger on the outside than the 454. And then, you can bore and stroke those to over 500 cubic inches I think? The 409 would be hard to work on, find parts for, and not as powerful. And unless the car came with one originally, would not make it worth more. So unless that’s the case, I’d go with the modern Big Block. Or maybe a 327, which is small enough to get better gas mileage, but is probably the highest revving Chevy V8, short of the 302. Build it for Nitrous, and it’s a real sleeper. Depends if you want to impress people before, or after they put their money down. LOL

Q: Can I remove the roof off of a 64 impala 4 door and it look good and still work?
Friend is in jail and has been thinking hard about doing this to his impala he has at home waiting for him. He asked me to find a picture or text that said it could be done. His main concern is that the door will not set right if he does it. Okay, if you can link a picture you find of it being done or have any info let me know!

A: my understanding is that the roof adds some structural integrity to the car, and that converting to a convertible requires additional bracing

Q: how can i add power streeing to my 64 impala. It has a 92 motor.?
i’ve just put a 92 chevy motor in a 1964 4dr impala. would I have to get the powersteering from a 64 w/ powersteering or is there a way to use the parts from my donor truck. or would i have to pull PWRSTR off of another car to make it work. Can you please let me know what all i would need to get this project done.

A: you will need the powersteering pump from the donor truck, but the Saginaw box from another 1960’s chevy it doesn’t have to be an impala, the one’s from a chevelle will fit, and are a lot cheaper and easier to find even at a junk yard, you will then need to get custom hoses made up once you take the measurements, alternatively, you use a complete kit from OPGI.com but you will pay a little extra since they did the work!

Q: what happed to the 64 impala from cheech and chong?
what ever happened to the 1964 impala from cheech and chong up in smoke. dose any one have pics of the car
whas it a ss 4 speed?

A: yes that could be a 4 speed because in 64 impalas they did make 4 speeds. i can also tell because in the movie he shifts more than twice. yes it an SS because it has buckets.
i think the car ended up with a guy who restored it to its original condition.

Q: How much does it cost to install Hydraulics in a 64 Impala?
I have no clue about buying hydraulics. Can someone please fill me in on what hydraulics I should get for my car,and which is more ideal for that type of car???

Thank you everyone

A: Check out the site (SUPERCHEVY.COM) when you get there type 64 impala in the search window and I think that will help you out…good luck

Q: Can I convert my 64 Impala Convertible to a 64 Impala SS Convertible?
Is it true that the paneling is the only thing that is different?

A: You got a whole bunch more stuff than just paneling to worry about if you wanna clone something, new rims, engine, gears, and in some cases, interior. Plus, if you have the original stuff for it, i.e. engine, tranny, etc. then it would probably be better off with being just an Impala. Think about how many Impala SS’s there are, now think about the amount of normal Impala’s. You car will probably be cooler and worth more if you don’t clone it. don’t do it just to be with everyone else, cause often, the original is the best.

Q: I have a 64 impala that runs perfect, i would like to know how could i find out what size motor i have in it?
I would also like to know where could i order original parts for it ,i have a v-8 motor in it.

A: The 64 Impala was equipped with a number of V8 Engines.
283 cid 195-220 bhp Turbo Fire V8
327 cid 250-300 bhp Turbo Fire V8
409 W-series Turbo Thrust V8, 340-425bhp
It is also very likely that your original engine was replaced with a 350 during the last twenty years.
The 283, 327, and 350 are all small blocks and very similar in appearance.
The 409 is a big block and quite different in appearance.
The VIN will tell you what engine was originally installed.
It will take a bit of sleuthing to determine what engine is currently installed. The previous posts tell you how to find the engine number and translate it.

Q: What would you do with a rabbit in a hat with a bat and a ‘64 impala?
Skee-lo keeps reiterating his wish for it…, i just wanna know what all the fuss is about.

A: If the Impala is a 409 dual-quad,leave the rabbit at home because the car will probably give it a heart attack..

Q: How many spark plugs does a ‘64 Impala need?
I’m doing an auto project and finding how much some of the maintenance of the car would be altogather is difficult so it would be GREAT if someone could help.Thank you.I appreciate it.

A: If it is a V6 that’s 6 plugs a V8 takes 8 plugs. If your not shure how many cylinders your car has find the distributor at the back of the motor count the wires on the outside of the distributor. If you change the wires do them one at a time your car wont run if you mix the wires up.

Q: How much would a 67 camaro regular show car or a 64 impala stock show car which would go for more price range ?
How much would both cars sale for!

A: I would determine that the Camaro would sell higher than the Impala if they were both rated at the same level of resoration. There are different levels of show quality. Some are even judged by the correct bolts and even if the color is exactly correct. The engines and options also will make it rare and more desirable. Giving a price for both would be guess work without a lot of information that an appraiser would have to accululate. If I had both cars I would drive the impala and show the Camaro. If I were keeping one I would keep the Camaro as an investment. Sorry that I can’t be of more help!

Q: What is the size of my engine? 64 Impala SS?
I have a 64 Impala SS with a Rochester carb. Everything on the car is stock…as it was when it rolled off the assembly floor. I’m thinking the engine is either a 283 or a 327, but how can I tell the difference? There’s no info under the hood and I can’t see a casting number???

A: You can’t tell by the damper. 283 and 327 used same dampers on all but the high HP 327’s

On your engine.. Pass side, front, in front of heads. Theres a machned pad. Use lots of cleaner, wd-40, etc old tooth brush, rag to clean it well.

The sufix code is stamped on that pad.

Rear driver’s side of block, on flange where transmission bolts too is the casting number.

Get those 2 #’s and go to www.mortec.com to look them up

Q: Is a 2007 4 door jeep wrangler good for offroading?
I know a jeep wrangler is an off roading geared vehicle but what about the 4 door wrangler? Recently ive gone off roading in a 07 4 door wrangler. Nothing on anything to big, just on dirt terrain with some rocks and dirt hills. Anything i should know before i start doing it more?

A: Wranglers are probably the most capable stock off road vehicle made, the four door models are heavier than the two doors and have a lower crossover angle, but are still very capable. Just remember that wheelin’ is hard on vehicles, so if you don’t have money for repairs, take it relatively easy.

Q: Does anyone know where i can rent a 4 door jeep wrangler in LA?
Im going to LA with 4 mates and we really want to be in one car. The problem is we also want the car to be open-top so there are not that many cars that will fit us and our bags! A jeep wrangler would do it (4 door – 2 door would be too small) Does anyone know where i can rent one? – BHrentacar have them but the wont answer my emails which is strange really as usually car rental companies like to rent cars!

If not can anyone suggest an affordable alternative?

Thanks

A: Hertz

Q: how will my 2008 Jeep Wrangler Safari 4 door look?
How will my 2008 Jeep Wrangler 4 door Safari Edition Look, If I put the standard stock wheels on, because some idiot, Sliced my original safari tires, and I don’t have insurance at the moment. so will my truck look like a normal Jeep 4 door wrangler or will it still sit up high? and look tacky.. any pictures would help

Don’t answer if your gonna be ignorant!

A: First if you don’t have insurance you do not need to be driving. Please stay far away from Arizona. Second you have a 4 door Jeep it will NEVER EVER look like a normal Jeep. Seriously look on craigslist, there are always stock Jeep wheels and tires on there. Good luck

Q: Which is better for off road? Honda Ridgeline, or new 4 door Jeep Wrangler?
I like both vehicles, but I like how the Honda is going to be very reliable. but I like the look of the 4 door wrangler better. The use would be modest off roading, no rock crawling really. It will be in desert terrain, but we do have monsoon season sometimes. You can assume that about $3,000.00 or so will be invested in either to make it perform better too, so add that into the equation. Thanks in advance!

A: A honda ridgeline is a joke for any offroad activity.. it seems to almost have a regular car suspension.. It cant even get a lift kit.. I would go with the jeep.. it looks nice and its very universal with that u can do with it.. i mean cmon its a JEEP..built for the offroad!!

Q: Opinions on 2007 Jeep 4 door wrangler?
Looking for any opinions from owners or the new 4 door jeep wrangler. How is comfort? gas milage? etc?

A: I love my jk. It is for reasons other than comfort and mileage though. It has a stiff, rugged ride, it’s a Jeep, and meant to be off road. It’s so much fun.
The mileage stinks, and the power is lacking. I have a heavy foot. I average 14.7 mpg around town.
For me it’s a 2nd vehicle. The kids dont always want to be windblown and they enjoy more comfort in our plush family vehicle
The jk’s a toy. The best toy ever.
I dont see why people who dont go off road buy Jeeps, but to each his own. I never went offroad before this, my Jeep took me there on it’s first day to an empty muddy field, it’s where it’s meant to be. And they look great dirty and muddy.

Q: What is the 4 door Jeep Wrangler Unlimited like to drive?
My husband and I are thinking about getting a Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, I was just wondering what the on road ride is like and how comfortable they are, I was also wondering what the off road capabilities are like? As we are thinking it could be our family car. We want to be able to go off road, and tow a trailer occasionaly!!!

A: To understand what driving a Jeep is like:

Screw some roller skates to the bottom of a fiberglass outhouse. Pack four people inside the outhouse and and hurl yourself down a bumpy freeway at 65 mph.

Yeah, its like that. And there is nothing quite like it in the world. Love it or leave it.

Q: What do people think of the new 4 door jeep wrangler?
I love it, Next year when they come out I plan on getting the 4 door Rubicon Edition

A: They already have them in the dealerships! I just saw 3 of them at the dealership yesterday. And yes I have to agree with you
I love it too! I miss my old Wrangler! I had one for 4 years… damn as soon as my current car is paid in full that is what I want!

Q: I’m thinking about getting a 4-door Jeep Wrangler. Does anyone have an opinion on them?
Like I said, I’m thinking about getting a 4-door Jeep Wrangler. Does anyone have an opinion about this model or Jeeps in general? I don’t know many Jeep owners, so I’m not sure about their reliability, or specs. Please advise. Thanks!

A: I have a jeep wrangler Sahara 2007, yes the four door version. I was sceptical at first thinking it would be bumpy, terrible gas mileage, lots of road noise(none of it true) and I love it!! These sissy boys who are ragging on these models saying they are crap and all that need to meet me out in the mud and I’ll put their little weekend warrior toys to shame. These people are also just jealous because they cant afford one! Go ahead indulge, you will be the envy of all the boys(who matter)

Q: Is the 4 door jeep wrangler available with a more powerful engine?
I test drove it and it seemed to lack some pickup, especially in the highway.

A: The 2007-2009 4 doors all have the 3.8L V-6,they don’t have the 4.0 I6,2006 was the last time they made that engine!X model and Rubicon have the same 3.8L V-6.

Q: Which car is safer for the high way: a 4 door jeep wrangler or a 2 door hyundai tiburon?
My daughter is taking a road trip tomorrow and I am kind of paranoid since it is the long weekend. Which would be the safest bet for a 400 km drive on the highway. Thanks!

A: Jeep.

Q: What would it cost to get my 2008 4 door Jeep Wrangler painted?
Its black and I would like to have it painted white, Hardtop and bumbers included. No hack job either like Maaco.

A: A good quality paint job from black to white (probably the most difficult project you can go for) will probably cost you between $8k and $10k. The entire body will have to be disassembled, glass and trim removed, old paint stripped and everything prep’d, then you’ll need one or two coats of primer, at least three coats of color, and two clear-coat, before letting dry/cure and reassembly.

The materials alone are probably over $1,000, and then there’s all that time.

Q: Jeep Wrangler Unlimited 4 door as a family car?
Ready to leave my youthful days of cruising around in my cute little cabrio behind and go for something more grown up. I want to get a bigger car so I feel safer, but not TOO big. I hate driving bigger cars, but something with a little height on it would be a plus.

I hate the idea of having to lose my convertible, but in the future, when I start to have a family, it just won’t be practical. I still want to be able to have fun with it, have the opportunity for offroading/towing, but eventually transition into a family car.

I figured this 4 door jeep offered the best of both worlds. I can still have my convertible, but it’s higher and bigger then mine now. It’s not as big as an SUV or a minivan that typically would be considered a family car, which is good for me since I’m not comfortable driving huge cars.

I guess my question is, anyone out there who has a 4 door wrangler, do you use it as your family car? If not, would you? Why or why not? Anyone know the safety ratings on it for kids/carseats etc. Any info/input would be great. Thanks!

A: I always wanted a Jeep Wrangler. But we have 3 kids, so it just wasn’t an option. I was so excited when the 4 door, 5 passengers came out. We bought an 08 in 07 and we LOVE it.

We have one child still in a car-seat, and it works great. Has the latch system (which I love, makes installing a car-seat so much easier.)

We do use ours daily. It works great, we can do anything with it, and the mileage is not as bad as some thing it is, I get 20 mpg when I drive, about 17 mpg when my husband drives. I know that’s not GREAT but it’s also not as bad as other SUV’s.

Q: Does a 2009 4 door jeep wrangler make a good first car?
is it safe and reliable? do you think it would make a good first car, and if you do not, could you please give some suggestions.

A: It should be fine as a first car. I’ve owned a Wrangler before and there pretty good dependable vehicles. The 4 door has a little longer wheel base which will make it more stable than the shorter 2 door so I would not worry about it.

Q: The 4-door wrangler jeep has a 3 piece hard top does the 2- door wrangler jeep have the same?
Or does the 2-door only have a 1 piece hard top?

A: The standard top on both is the soft top. It is an option on both 2 and 4 door jeeps. Think it is called the Freedom top? Go to www.jeep.com and use the build your own link. It is under the options tab> additional features.

Q: Where can you buy a MyGig Lockpick for a 4 door Jeep Wrangler?
I’ve done searches and only find forums with opinions, questions etc…. where can you actually buy one?

A: from their website.

here’s more specific for the JK Jeep.

http://www.coastaletech.com/MYGIG.htm

you could also join up at http://www.jk-forum.com and look around, since they happen to provide this information for JK owners. Info on how to install, and other issues of concern would be answered there as well.

BTW, you happen to be a JK owner, the 2007 and up Jeep Wranglers are JK models.

Q: What is the red LED in the 2010 Ford Escape steering column for?
I just got a 2010 Ford escape and there is a little LED near the hazard switch in the steering column that keeps blinking red but I can’t find anywhere in the manual what it indicates. My friend has an identical Escape but his does not blink. Anyone knows?

A: It’s the PATS (Passive Anti Theft System) indicater light. See page 107-8-9 of your owners manual.
____Copy______
Anti-theft indicator
The anti-theft indicator is located in the instrument panel cluster.
• When the ignition is in the off
position, the indicator will flash
once every two seconds to
indicate the SecuriLock system
is functioning as a theft
deterrent.
• When the ignition is in the on position, the indicator will glow for
three seconds to indicate normal system functionality.
If a problem occurs with the SecuriLock system, the indicator will flash
rapidly or glow steadily when the ignition is in the on position. If this
occurs, turn the ignition off then back to on to make sure there was no
electronic interference with the programmed key. If the vehicle doesn’t
start, try to start it with the 2nd programmed key and if successful
contact your authorized dealership for key replacement. If the indicator
still flashes rapidly or glows steadily, the vehicle will not start, contact
your authorized dealer as soon as possible for service.
Automatic arming
The vehicle is armed immediately after switching the ignition to the off
position.
The theft indicator will flash every
two seconds to act as a theft
deterrent when the vehicle is
armed.
Automatic disarming
The vehicle is disarmed immediately after the ignition is turned to the on
position.
The theft indicator will illuminate for three seconds and then go out. If
the theft indicator stays on for an extended period of time or flashes
rapidly, contact your authorized dealer as soon as possible.
Replacement Integrated Keyhead Transmitters (IKT) and coded
keys
Note: Your vehicle comes equipped with two Integrated Keyhead
Transmitters (IKTs). The IKT functions as both a programmed ignition
key that operates all the locks and starts the vehicle, as well as a remote

I hope this helps

Q: is it possible to get a remote start installed on a 2010 ford escape?
i’m broke so we bought the basic 2010 ford escape. it doesn’t come with a remote start on it, but i wanted to get one installed. about how much would it cost? and is it even possible?

A: As long as it’s automatic.
You can’t install a remote start on a manual car because the neutral safety switch is the clutch, which has to be pressed down for the car to start. In automatics, its just having it in “P” for Park.

I think Advance Auto has a Do It Yourself, or Install It Yourself rather, but its like $400. I’m unsure of the average costs but it cant be too cheap.

Q: 2010 Ford Escape engine compartment only has primer in it and is not the same color as the exterior.?
I bought an Escape not to long ago and am just noticing now that they engine compartment is a dull gray color while the rest of the vehicle is a silver metallic paint with a clear coat. Does Ford paint all Escapes like this?
It had 3 miles on it when I bought it, and I ordered it from the factory. It could not of ever been in an accident.

A: Your Escape is normal. Why put flashy paint on an area where nobody but mechanics and owners ever look? Rest easy they did not screw you over.

Q: Can I upgrade the radio on a 2010 Ford Escape?
Is it possible to replace the radio in a 2010 Ford Escape if it has factory installed SYNC and Sirus Radio? I wouldn’t mind changing the factory radio out for a double-din touchscreen or Navigation system. I want to keep it clean but don’t want to mess up the SYNC features if it’s built into the existing radio.

A: You can replace it for a touchscreen navigation system ( http://www.crutchfield.com/p_130AVIC310/Pioneer-AVIC-U310BT.html?tp=20212 ) but you will lose the Microsoft Sync feature with ANY aftermarket head unit.

Q: How do you download a LG Neon’s phone book with a 2010 Ford Escape’s SYNC feature?
I have a 2010 Ford Escape with sync, and my phone is paired. However, it says there are no contacts downloaded with sync. How do I do so? I’ve tried to go to phone settings>autodownload phonebook but it says to make the phone “push” the contacts to sync. How do I do this?

A: go here: http://www.syncmyride.com/Own/Modules/SupportContent/MakingCallsSupport.aspx?hdi=8
I hope this helps but if U have a different controller than go to here: http://www.syncmyride.com/Own/Modules/SupportContent/MakingCallsSupport.aspx?hdi=8 click on Use Your Contacts Phone book in the second section and select your type of controller. Good Luck!

Q: 2010 Ford Escape Limited – Can the Escape be programmed to continue running after pressing the remote start?
When I unlock the doors to enter the vehicle it shuts off after opening any door.

A: well this is a dealer issue and it is under warranty if this was my vehicle i would not attempt to change anything because this might void the warranty best bet would be to call the dealership and ask them sorry but this is just my opinion

Q: can anyone tell me their opinions on the 2010 ford escape?
i love asian cars but the ones i like are out of my price range. i saw the ford escape and it has a good price and the gas mileage is 22/28 thats what it says. anything about the suv? or any opinions on Ford cars in general? thanks!

A: Best one So far, you cant go wrong. But then there’s the Hyundai Santa Fe.

Q: does the 2010 ford escape xlt tell you what the outside temp is?
I am thinking of getting one and this is an important feature for me. None of the sites tell me this. Does the vehicle tell me outside temp?

A: Yes, my sis-in laws 2010 limited does in the messege center.

Edit: Here is the info you want.
I
I
I
V

Q: How to turn on the Transmission light on my 2010 ford escape?
when i’m driving in the night, i can’t see any thing on my transmission, I thought it should be lightened up, but I don’t know how, does any one know how and where is that button or the Escape is just like that, It’s just sooooo unconvinience!
Yeah~I can hear it just….It’s not right….
And it’s a new one….

A: I have an 08 and it automatically lights up when the lights are on. Take it back to the dealer and have them fix it.

Q: is it true that ford escape 2010 is not applicable for alarm?
i purchased a ford escape 2010 xlt 4×4 and found out that the car has no alarm. Now i am about to schedule it for the alarm setup but the ford services told me that this model does not support car alarm. How come? No explanations given to me. I was asked to wait for a return call for the explanation.

A: I can explain. They dont want to do it. Any car can have an alarm installed. Take it to another shop. Check the yellow pages. Good luck!

Q: what are good visual upgrades for a 2010 ford Escape?
I’m looking for good looking visual upgrades.

A: Rims/tires…….Window Tint

Q: are the 2010 and2007 ford escapes big cars?
i’m looking to buy one but i don’t want a real BIG suv, i’m only 17. if its any bigger or as big as a Saturn outlook form about 2008 -07 then its way to big ! and i need to know if the breaks are soft. like do you have to press the breaks a little or a lot for the car to stop

A: no escapes are nice size suvs. my mom has one and it handles like a corvette. no lie. that thing corners so nicely and it brakes right when u touch the pedal. i have a 2004 mercedes clk and it handles pretty nice also, but nothing like my moms escape. i really do recomend getting one.

Q: What is the name of song played on 2010 ford escape commercial were guy was talking about no gas caps?

A: If it’s the commercial I’m thinking of, it’s:

Telekinesis! – Coast of Carolina

Google him – saw this guy while working a&r for a music firm. They didn’t bite, but Ford did. Great song.

Q: lf one was to buy a 2010 Ford Escape?
lf one was going to pay cash for a 2010 Ford Escape, what would they expect to pay..bottom line price after wheeling and dealing for a basic model with cargo package?

A: You should also consider that such a car may be expensive to insure. Check your insurance rates before buying one, for example here – carinsurance.yoll.net

Q: Which color do you prefer on the 2010 Ford Escape?
I am deciding between the:

          Brilliant Silver Metallic
White Suede
Black Pearl Slate Metallic

Copy and paste this link…then you can see the various colors and rotate the car 360 degrees.

http://bp2.forddirect.fordvehicles.com/2009-Ford-Escape#page=/Exterior/

Thank you!

A: After looking at the vehicle in different colors, I think the White Suede looks the best. Black is to simple, there are plenty of black cars, and the same goes for silver. So id go with the White Suede. Good Luck on your purchase.

Q: How many 2009 Ford F150 Platinum trucks were made in 2009?
Does anyone know how many?
or where to go/who to ask to get the correct answer?
thanks!
To Alex C -
No it isn’t, not for vehicles.
2010’s are out!

A: 2009 is still going on…?

Q: how do you go lifting a 2009 Ford F150 truck up 4″?
I’m trying to figure out if lifting my son’s F150 4″ in front and 2 in the back is going to cost a fortune

A: For a four inch suspension lift kit be prepared to spend about $1700-$2000 for decent kit. If he wants to fit bigger tires, like 35’s he’ll need to regear in order keep the overall gearing of the truck close to stock. Not doing so will result in poor performance, poor fuel economy, and possibly some drivability issues. Expect to spend about $600 per axle, ($600 for a 2WD, $1200 for a 4WD). He’s going to need a steering stabilizer too, that will run about $100-$200 depending on which one he goes for. So be prepared to spend about $2400- $3400 plus the cost of the lift install, plus whatever the cost of whatever tires he chooses.

Q: 2009 Ford F150 starter or battery issue?
i just got my 2009 ford f150 a while ago and the past couple of days when i go to start the truck it cranks for a little longer then it usually does. it has never done this, and all of the sudden it started to do this. is this a starter/battery issue? i took the truck into the dealer i got it from, (not impressed with their service) and they said “well, if it starts, it’s fine” and refused to check it under warranty.

A: OK not to be rude, but What is a long time? I am a Ford master tech and can say that the dealer may not have given you the answer you wanted, but they are right if it starts its ok. Now here are some questions for you. What oil Filter is on your truck, Factory Ford Filter is required as the engine in you truck is very sensitive to oil pressure and can cause the delayed start concern. Fuel can Cause this also. how many miles are on your truck, if close to 30,000 then the fuel filter is due be changed. Do you have any afermarket equipment on the engine including especially the air filter. A K&N filter will cause all kinds of problems. I hope this give you some input. If all the above are ok and it has a Ford oil Filter then I agree that you need to take this message from me to the Dealer and Tell them to compare your truck to a like model with you. If your truck cranks significantly longer then they need to find out why.

Q: What can I do about the air not being on at startup for Ford f150 2009 Platinum?
It’s a little annoying to have to turn the air on every time you start the truck.

A: This question makes no sense. Why would you have to turn the A/C on when you are starting the truck? No vehicle expects you to do this.

Q: Owners- what are your complaints about your 2009 Ford F150?
I’m considering buying the new F150 but I would like to hear any complaints you may have about your truck.
Or anything you love about it.

A: I work on them for a living, and sold about 30 of them only 2 have been back for mechanical problems… One for the backup camera going on the blink, and the other had a vibration which turned out to be the guy didn’t rotate the tires in 12,000 miles

Personaly, I really love the trucks and only complaint I don’t like is the center area in that you are kind of stuff with the factory radio, however most manufacturers are doing that now.

Q: What’s a good (and not too expensive) bull bar for a 2009 Ford F150?
My boyfriend mentioned that he wants a bull bar for his truck but he didn’t say what brand or anything, any ideas?

A: There are a number of good Bull Bars for the 2009 Ford F150. I would recommend going to a web site like PerformanceParts4Less.com. They offer a number of different models at various price ranges. Here is what you do:

Below is a link to their “Search by Vehicle”. Put in the 2009 – Ford – Pickup F-150. This will get you a drop down box with a list of different products.

Go down to – Grille Guard

Choose the model, for example, XL or XLT or FX4

Choose the engine, for example, gas or flex

This will bring to a list of around 20 parts. On the right side of the page will be the companies CSI, DeeZee, Go Rhino, Warn and Westin. Click on the button that says “Show Parts”.

Here you will see a list of Bull Bars (Grille Guards) from $159 – $771 depending on material and complexity of the design. All of these are priced with Free Shipping in the lower 48 states.

If you have a question, PerformanceParts4Less.com has a toll free number – 1-888-326-0054. They are open 8-5 EST Monday – Friday.

I am sure you will find one of these Bull Bars to meet your taste and budget.

Q: How much would a used 2009 Ford F150 cost?

A: It’s not easy to say how much, because they’re so many different options and trim lines. Go to kbb.com and start with the cab size, 4.6 L engine or 5.4 L engine and number of valves, bed size, other options like stereo upgrades or cloth/leather seats.

Sorry that you probably just want a straight answer, but there’s so many different configurations for that truck that it could mean a used one will be as low as $20,000 or as high as $40,000.

Q: lifting a 2009 ford f150?
i am leveling my 2009 ext cab ford f150 as well as lifting it 2 inches. what size tires should i get?

A: it is best to a expert tire dealer ship they well tell you but when lifting it up the speedometer well be wrong need to take it to a dealership to calibrate speedometer after you lift it up

Q: Can a 2009 Ford F150 6 bolt rim fit on a chevrolet 6 bolt rim?

A: if the diameter of the bolt circle is the same

Q: 2009/2010 Ford F150- cargo, GVWR and GAWR increase with Max Tow?
I am having a b*tch of a time trying to figure out what my 2009 F150 Supercrew 4×4, with Max Tow, can tow when it comes to a 5th wheel trailer. Typically, half tons are not 5′er friendly, so no debate there required.

I have max tow- I paid for it. It “increases the trailer towing ability to 11,200 pounds”. The GCWR increased to 17,100.

The door sticker shows GAWR (front) 3900, rear 4000, and GVW of 7200. (you’d think it would be closer to 3900+4000 = 7900!). The sticker also shows max cargo = 1038.

Buddy with a 2009 Lariat, no Max Tow, has the same ratings, but his cargo is 1280, more than mine.

I am trying to figure out if the max Tow increased by cargo, GAWR (r), and GVW as it did increase the tow (pulling) rating, and the GCWR over non max-tow optioned trucks.

I have 3 different Ford sites with 3 different weight ratings, ranging from 1200 cargo, to 1500 to 1975. Ford syas it will take 6-8 weeks for a reply, I cannot wait that long for something that should be easily published….

ARGH!

A: Towing capacity and cargo capacity are two different things.

Cargo capacity is the maximum weight of the load you can safely put into the bed of your truck. That weight limit is based primarily on the strength of the truck’s frame, the suspension and the tires that are fitted to the truck. Cargo capacity also includes the weight of the driver and passenger(s).

Towing capacity is the maximum weight of the trailer and its contents, when the truck is equipped with the proper hitch and auxiliary braking systems. That weight limit is based mostly on the hitch, the transmission and axle gear ratios, the power of the engine, and if it is fitted with auxiliary cooling for the engine and transmission.

GVWR is the Gross Vehicle Weight Rating, and is the maximum weight you can carry on the four wheels of the truck. GCWR is Gross Combined Weight Rating, and includes the maximum weight of the truck and the trailer together.

Don’t worry so much about comparing the capacities of different trucks. The one you need to be concerned about is the one you own and drive, and that’s what the stickers on the door tells you. As long as it will do what you want, you’re good.

Q: My 2009 Ford F150 has a recall problem, should have got a Dodge Truck?

A: recalls happen on all makes and models so buying a dodge wont have meant you would not had a recall on it,ford builds as god truck we all know that ,but i prefer a dodge any day because their a lot easier to work on,just take it in and get it repaired, its free,so it wont cost you nothing, good luck.

Q: Where to find 2009 ford f150 harley edition pictures.?
Are they available yet.

A: hd is not an option for the f-150 but f-250 sd are avalible in the harley addition. check the ford web site.

Q: Anyone know when the 2009 ford f150 comes out?

A: Demo’s are comming out in late september or early october. My dad owns a ford dealership and thats what he had told me because im looking at getting one also. The date is unknown of when they are comming to the dealership. He was told that when the first shippment comes out thier will only be 3-5 per dealership depending on size. My dad holds around 150 new cars on his lot. He thinks he will be getting 4 of them. Im playing the waiting game now. If you are serious about buying one then contact your local ford dealer and see if they will hold one for you. My dad is holding one for me but he wont let me take it for two weeks because he is going to put it on the showroom floor. Im okay with that I guess. Well good luck!!!!

Q: 2009 Ford F150 shifting problems, feeling like bottom dropped out every shift, 1-3 quite regularly?

A: Have you change the transmission fluid and filter? I would take it to the dealer thats odd for that new of a vehicle to do that but change the tranny fluid and the filter first.

Q: i have a 2009 ford f150 lariat with factory in dash navi , dvd player is there a way to bypass the safety?
switch for the dvd player to work while the truck is in drive

A: yes u simply ground the switch that goes to the transmission that tells the player that the vehicle is in park……that being said i’m not exactly sure where switch is on that model……and its illegal to do it so keep that in mind…….

Q: 1969 mustang?
What is the best type of muffler that sound the best on a 1969 mustang with 475 hp?

A: Flowmaster
Try the new 44’s.

http://www.flowmastermufflers.com/mufflers.html

Q: 1969-mustang????//?
is a 351 mustang a gt?

A: Not necesarilly It could be Mach I,a Gt.You got to check the VIN number, and use a Chilton’s manual .They’ll tell you what kind of Mustang you have.Personally I’ll take 351 Cleveland over 351 Windsor engine.

Q: What motor oil do I use for a 1969 Mustang fastback, 351 cleveland v8?
What motor oil do I use for a 1969 Mustang fastback, 351 cleveland v8?

A: just like any other engine, the more miles the heavier grade.. new engine 10-30, medium miles 10-40 and I like 20-50 racing oil for higher miles and use Delo diesel spec oil for the zinc..

Q: How can (and how much) I convert a 1969 mustang lhd (left hand drive) to right hand drive so i can drive in uk?
Its a 1969 Ford Mustang and I wanted to change its Left Hand Drive to Right hand because I’ve been told that the insurance would be crazy with a right hand when driving in uk…
any help would be appreciated

A: It would be cheaper to pay for the insurance.

You would need to pay a custom car shop several thousand dollars. Everything would need to be custom fabricated. Nothing off the shelf. Seems there isn’t much market for right hand drive conversion kits here for 40 year old cars.

I would say $20,000 minimum to pay a custom car shop to do this for you.

Q: Does anybody know where I can find a 1969 mustang in poor condition in Colorado?
I’m 16 my brother and I need a 1969 Mustang body in poor condition so I can fix it up and turn it into my dream car. Needs to be in Colorado

A: You could always try ebay, you can narrow it down to your area & the particular year model that you’re after. You may be able to find something rough but roadworthy (just!!) for about $2000 if you are patient. Not too much money I always wanted a 68 one myself…

Q: what size tires and wheels can you fit on a 1969 mustang?
can i fit 18″x9″ rim with a 275 tire and 18″x8″ rim with 245 tire on my 1969 mustang im willing to bring it out flush with the wheel well?

A: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/PHP-01201/

I’d invest in one of those if you are gonna be putting wheels on more vehicles later on otherwise I’d go talk to a local tire/wheel shop and they would be able to help you with the sizes.

Q: What is the Spark Plug Gap for a 1969 mustang?
I have a 1969 Mustang Grande addition with a 351 engine. i need to know the gap setting for the spark plugs.

A: Here’s what it IS (not “what it should be”). The gap, assuming the engine is original and unmodified, is .035. That engine would barely run and the plugs would always foul if the gap was .017. That’s just completely wrong.

Q: 10 reasons why a 1969 mustang fastback is a good car?
okay so for my English class i need to write ten reasons why my parent should by me a 1969 mustang fastback.. i need to be realistic and stuff so if you could help me out id mean alot!!

                                                                        -<3 hollistergirl

A: lets see, it’s popular and expensive, wait, that’s reasons not to get it, I could easily give you 8 more for not getting it.. it’s 38 years old… maybe it’s not such a good car after all. Did I mention the brakes and handling aren’t that great, 38 year old technology you know…

Q: Would a 302 engine fit in a 1969 mustang?
I am wondering if a 1981 ford 302 engine would work in a 1969 mustang?

A: What is it out of, Mustang didn’t offer a 302 in ‘81,they used the small 255..4.2 with only 120 hp…Your 250-six is a better engine..

“Following the second oil crisis in 1979, the 302 cu in (4.9 L) was dropped in favor of a new 4.2 L (~256 cu in) V8 due to its better fuel economy. It was the only V8 offered in 1980 and 1981″

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Third-generation_Ford_Mustang

Q: is it possible to upgrade seats for my 1969 mustang coupe?
I’m looking to replace my old bucket seats to some more updated pair of seats, not sure if its possible or if it can be done with minimal modifications. Any tips on what year of mustang seats i can use?

A: Get whatever seats you like, flip them over and drill the frame to accept the ‘69 seat track. This will only work for non-power seats. That’s how I put Fox-body seats into my ‘67 Mustang

Q: Connected battery backwards, smelled smoke, Now What? 1969 Mustang?
For maybe 3 seconds I like an idiot connected the cables wrong on my brand new battery. I smelled smoke and disconnected the battery quickly. I opened the car door and smoke came out too.

Its a 1969 Mustang and I have a battery shutoff installed on the ground. I have to insert a Red key to compete the ground and to start the car. The key was NOT in and the coil was also unplugged.

I did not try to start it either. The cables were only connected for 3 seconds. What should I do?

A: I will almost guarantee you that you fried the alternator at least, why it smoked inside the car I don’t know but that doesn’t sound good.

Q: My 1969 Mustang Mach 1 has been sitting in a garage for 20 years with all liquids drained. Where do I begin?
My dad just gave me his 1969 Mach 1, and has told me that he drained it knowing that it would sit for a while. Well it’s been 20 years, and now that I able to start fixing it, I’m not sure where I should start. I want this up and running as soon as possible. I hope to use this as my project car and begin restoring it. Are there books that would help with this?

A: First thing to do is to pull the spark plugs out and get some oil into the cylinder. Spray or pump some oil in each cylinder before you try to rotate the motor. You should put a little in for a couple of days, so that you can make sure the rings don’t seize. Then I would rotate it by hand so that you can feel if it is right. Fill the crank case too before you try to turn it. Leave the plugs out too so that it can push out the oil and doesn’t try to squeeze it if you put too much in. Sounds like fun. Do the work it needs before you get it running because once it is running you will be turning the wheel and not a wrench.

Q: Would this be silly to do to a 1969 Ford Mustang?
Would it sound ridiculous to put turndowns on a 1969 Ford Mustang with a 302 engine? Or… Would it be a fun thing to do while saving for electronic cutouts?

A: turndowns are only an appearance item and add little to your exhaust system, so guess if thats the look you want go for it…personally i do not think they suit a mustang.
electric exhaust cutouts are a good installation for both sound and performance flow through.
cheers 04 cobra

Q: can you put a turbocharger or supercharger in a 1969 mustang?
if not, how else can I my mustang go faster.Where can I buy parts online.

A: if u have the money anything can be done
u can have 429 turbo charge
but is it better to have car that go fast or car that as resell value
you’re call
you can have fast car and keep it org lot’s of stuff out there

Q: Do you love the classic 1969 ford mustang and why?
If you love the 1969 ford mustang tell me why and if you have one tell me what it looks like. If you dont have one then tell me what your mustang would look like if you had one. The best answer will get 10 points.

A: I love the 1969 Mustang the most out of all of the Mustang models that is the year that still had the style of the 1st 2 generations but was the size of a full-size muscle car not the little pony car it started out to be. If I were to get one I would paint it a candy black with 3 stripes following the curve of the body their colors in order would be White, Silver, Dark Grey. It would have a low profile Aero hood scoop which would feed the monster of an engine a 514. It would have a 2-tone leather interior that is black and white and a license plate border that said “Here Hemi Hemi”

Q: where can i find a 1969 dodge charger in southern california?
I want to find a 1969 Dodge charger preferably already made to look like the general lee for 5,000 or less.

A: craigslist and ebay try driving down in old country roads , but good luck finding one lol its hard plus they cost more than that

Q: Body difference between 1969 Dodge Charger and 1969 Super Bee?
Were there any body differences between the 1969 Charger and the 1969 Super Bee? They look a lot alike!

A: the super bee was built off a dodge coronet body style,it had no relation to the charger body’s at all,the Plymouth road runners and gtx,s and satellites were the same body style, the road runner and the the gtx,s they have slightly different design,s as you can tell from looking at this picture, they were two totally different vehicles, engines and transmissions were the same but that’s about it,http://www.hubcapcafe.com/ocs/pages01/dodg6904.htm good luck on it.

Q: anyone selling a working 1969 dodge charger that a teenager can afford?
anyone selling a working 1969 dodge charger that a teenager can afford?

A: Probably not.

Q: Can you turn a 1969 dodge charger into a hydrogen / gasoline hybrid ?
Can you turn a 1969 dodge charger into a hydrogen / gasoline hybrid car?
i would wanna turn a 1969 dodge charger into a hydrogen / gasoline hybrid vehicle to lower the cost of gasoline and make me more independent and how much do you think it would cost?? also would the engine still sound and hum the same way it normally does or not??

A: You are lucky enough to have a ‘69 charger and you want to jack it up. If you are concerned about milage do the following:
1. sell the charger to someone who knows what to do with it.
2. take the proceeds and go get a Honda Fit.
3. don’t ever buy another muscle car again

Q: How can you rent a 1969 Dodge Charger for a day?
My dad used to drive a red dodge charger when he was young. He always admires these cars anytime that he sees them. I was wondering if there is a way to rent one to allow him to experience some nostalga. He lives in West Virginia.

A: NO! Why because these cars can’t be replaced. But you can buy one. A nice 69 is only asbout 80 grand.

Q: What was the difference between the 1969 dodge charger R/T and the white hat 1969 charger’s?
BTW what were the options and color choices?

A: There was no “white hat” charger. The white hat deal was a sales (advertising gimmick), as in “good guys wear white hats”. You can Google 1969 dodge charger options to get the rest of the info you want.

Q: Where can I buy a 1969 Dodge Charger?
I am in the UK and would like to buy a classic 1960 Dodge Charger, I would prefer one to restore but I don’t mind. I was just wondering if there was a classic american car importers in the UK, near London or Kent preferably.

A: here’s a good web site to find those on,and it can be shipped to you,but this place will have a few of them they actually have about any old classic car you could want to find, good luck with it,http://classiccar.com/

Q: Which is better a 1969 Dodge Charger or 1969 Mustang?
Judgeing on horsepower, engine and looks which would you rather have? Don’t take into account that the Charger cost alot more these days.

A: I think by far it is the Charger, just look at the body lines the best looking muscle car of the late 60/s. The engines made lots of power and are just designed better than the Fords. The Charger has i bet more people look at it at a stoplight than a Mustang will ever have.

Q: What is the Horse Power and torque of a 1969 Dodge Charger 440 Magnum?
Horse power and torque of a 1969 Dodge charger, Yes the General Lee.

A: I’m a MoPar fan and owner the information is 440 magnum 4bbl put out 375horsepower450foot pounds of tire shredding torque!! YEE-HAWW!!!!

Q: Was the vinyl top on the 1969 dodge charger an option?
im planing on getting a 1969 charger project car with in a year or so. and i am wondering if the vinyl top was an option and if the 1969 charger was available in a hard top instead of the vinyl. thanks in advance

A: The vinyl top was an option on the ‘69 Charger, have owned two with vinyl tops and currently am caretaker for my wife’s numbers matching big block ‘70 Charger 500 . . . . with a vinyl top.

Q: how much do the bumpers on a 1969 dodge charger cost?
how much are the Daytona bumpers on the 69 Daytona charger cost? not the originals but replicas.

A: Rear bumper, not so bad. Nose piece on front? You can’t afford it.

Q: What is the length of a 1969 dodge charger?
I want to rent a trailer to transport the car home and need to know how long the trailer needs to be.
I don’t have the car in my possession yet so I can’t go out and measure it, otherwise I would. It is going to be transferred from Minnesota to here in Michigan and I wanted to make sure I had a big enough trailer bed for it.

A: 208 inches

Q: I’m buying a 1969 Dodge Charger. Are there any recommended parts to put in it to make it worth while?
I love the way the 1969 Dodge Charger from the newest Dukes of Hazzard movie sounds when it runs. I love the way it looks all together. I’d like to know what kind of parts might make it sound/run/look like that and I would like to know about how much it would cost.

A: As long as it has a big block and 4 speed transmission, it will be cool.

Q: Price range for a 1969 Chevy Camaro and Dodge Charger?
I was looking for old cars. Someone said they wanted an old 1969 Dodge Charger, so I went on google and I they looked cool. But I like the 1960s Chevy Camaro.
If anyone knows the prices of these two cars, please help.
I think they’re way cool (:

A: depends on if you buy them in a “project car” condition, barely running or restored, a junk classic msucle car can cost between $1,000 and $2,000 easy with no drive train, fully restored to factory specs they’ll cost about $45,000-75,000 give or take only because a 69 camaro and 69 charger are highly in demand, look on autotrader.com or eBay

i also suggest if you do buy one don’t let it sit in a garage, drive it like it was made to, even daily

Q: Where can I get a 1969 dodge charger to fix up?
It dosnt have run or anything. I just want to find one for around 200 to 500 $ that I can fix up.

A: Right here, but this one is a little more expensive, for $200-$500 you would just be looking at a pile of rust.

This one’s a little cheaper

Are you looking for 1968 firebird? Check out Canada’s Automobile Search Engine: LemonFree.ca

Q: Have any detail images under the hood of a 1968 Firebird to share? Or any scale model car gallery links?
My husband and I are working on scale model cars.. He is starting a 1968 Firebird model. We have been searching the net for images of under the hood so we can fine detail and wire the engine. Close ups of the distributor especially would be great.. Original images that is… Nothing modified… So does anyone have any images or links they can share with us? We are also interested in links to all kinds of scale model car galleries as well, or any helpful and fun tips for the hobby… Thank you in advance!

A: http://images.google.com/images?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&rls=RNWE,RNWE:2005-19,RNWE:en&q=1968+Firebird+engine

Q: will a 1975 transmission fit a 1968 firebird? How to identify model?
I have access to a 1975 firebird transmission – and my 1968 needs one – are they intercghangeable? Both engines are 350.

A: yes they are the 350 block has not changed in a zillion years

Q: 1968 pontiac firebird 17 digit vin number?
im trying to look up a vehicle history report and a 17 digit vin number is required. 1968 Firebird vin only has 13 numbers. can someone help?

A: Don’t ya just love these wise crackers? OK, if ya want to know how to decipher the vin, in your search engine type in general motors vin plate identification to decipher what your car is suppose to be about as far as engine, body style, origin of assembly( where it was made) and so forth. As far as having your vehicle evaluated there are a number of car clubs, restoration specialists, etc, etc, that can tell you if the car is a piece of junk or a good buy. Expect to pay anywhere from $75-$200 to have it checked out. Does the owner say anything about a restoration done on the car? Or if it is all original, unrestored vehicle? All this can affect the value of the vehicle. Remember that it isn’t unusual for a car of this stature to have been restored with either reproduced parts or original equipment from the manufacturer. This is a very desirable car as I’m sure you know being an F-car (Firebird/Camaro) but this is how you go about evaluating a “Classic Muscle Car”

Q: What method is best for telling apart a Pontiac 400 & the 350 engine from each other in a 1968 Firebird?

A: The two letter Engine Code on the block, located on metal boss on block below cylinder head kinda’ near the water pump (looking at front of engine it’s usually on your left)… For 1968 model year codes WI, WQ, WZ, XN, YT and YW are the 400’s / WC, WK, YJ and YM are the 350’s. Hope that helps…Good Luck!

If you see any other code let me know, it means that is not a 1968 engine.

Note: VIN numbers are unreliable as they only tell you what the configuration of the car was when built…remember this is a 42 year old car, who knows what has been done to it.

Q: Can I add an electric fan to my 1968 Firebird to help with dditional cooling, especially in rush hour traffic.
This car stays cool when it is running around, but stop and go traffic, yikes the temp gauge just keeps climbing. Would adding an electric fan and mounting it on the ouside of the radiator in combination of the existing fan function the way I would like? I plan on adding an additional switch to turn it on when needed.

A: Yes, that will work provided you have the room to fit it in there.

Q: What is the mpg rating of a stock 1968 pontiac firebird 400 motor?
I wanted to know so i would know what all i could do to my car without dipping to low in the mpg range, thank you.

A: wow this people dont know what there talking about, i got a 69 gto with a 68 gto 400 and its gets 18mpg in town. thats with stock cam and new gaskets. so the firebird should get 15-18 if its in good shape

Q: Where can i find the hood release on a 1968 pontiac firebird?
I can’t find the hood release on it and i dont think it is under the front license plate can anyone help?

A: Under what most owners call the Nose… Pull Hand bar.
Pull it out , hood clicks and pops up …
2nd release:
at the same time, push the hood down litely (don’t shut it)
as your pulling the Hood release. you will feel it let go.
They pull it open with both hands.

Its a little different than the GTO but same spot.

Q: Who had a Factory 1968 Pontiac Firebird with 428 cid engine?
This car did 1/4 mile in 6.94 second s @ 215.5 MPH, with Pure Pontiac “428″ cid engine, and added blower!
If you knew how to use a Pontiac Order Form, you could get any engine you wanted Factory, that is why Pontiac Ruled!
Remember Arnie Beswick was an independant racer, he knew how to fill out the forms, he got those engines in his cars!

A: Arnie did not have a 68 Firebird. He was running GTO’s back then.

He ran that particular time you mention in 1972, with a 1972 Trans Am Funny Car body, not a 1968 Firebird.

I could get you a picture of that car if you’d like, but I’m sure you could find it yourself at his website, I’ll list it below.

Q: Would it be possible to install a Hydrogen engine into for example a 1968 Pontiac Firebird?
I know it’s an out of the ordinary idea but would it be possible?

A: No.

But you might have deep pockets and drive this Firebird long and far enough to break even..who knows.

———————-

Is it possible to build your own refueling station right now? Absolutely! With enough time and money you could buy solar panels, an industrial electrolyzer and a FuelMaker and assemble a system for refueling in your garage! Will it be cheap to be the first one on your block with a solar-hydrogen refueling fuel station? Not a chance. Our scientifically engineered Excel chart showing the cost benefit-relationship for such a project indicates you’d have to put about 1,567,291.03 miles, (your mileage may vary) on a vehicle to break even on the refueling station costs!

Q: 1968 Pontiac Firebird Fuse Block Diagram?
I need to check the fuses on my 1968 Pontiac Firebird but I have no diagram for the fuse block, which makes identifying the various fuses rather difficult. Can someone please direct me to a diagram or make one up for me? Thanks.

A: The Haynes manuals have excellent wiring diagrams and you can buy them at almost any auto parts store for around $20.00.

Q: how many 1968 HO Firebird Convertibles with auto trans were produced?
Sorry, the engine is a 350

A: I am not at home, so I cannot give you better numbers than this from my imperfect memory. Plus, I am taking my computer to be fixed, so I may not be able to edit this message with more accurate info.

The Firebird HO is rarer than a Firebird 400, although most people don’t realize that. I think about 3000 HOs were built in both bodystyles, although I can’t tell you whether an automatic is rarer than a manual – when it comes to hi-po Pontiac engines, automatics are usually rarer, but the 350HO is not your average performance Pontiac anyway.

So, to throw out a guess, less than 500 HO ragtops were built, and maybe half of them were automatics, with the 3-speed coming in next, and the 4-speed being the rarest.

I should point out this car should not be confused with the Firebird 400 with the 400HO engine, which sometimes confounds even true-blue Pontiac people!

Q: Wilwood offers 2 caliper brackets for the rear disc conversion kit for my 1968 firebird, which will fit?
My 1968 Pontiac Firebird has the original 10 bolt rear end, Wilwood offers a 2.75″ offest caliper bracket and a 2.81″ caliper bracket and i need to know which kit to order. Apparently, Chevy made 2 different 10 bolt rear ends in 68 and i don’t know which kit will fit the one i have, i’d appreciate any help

A: as long as you dont have the calipers and dic-scs yet just pick 1 and get the calipers and discs to match…we used the big offset on our racecar and worked fine

Q: 1968 pontiac firebird fuel pump?
my friend has a 1968 pontiac firebird with a 350 and wants to find out if the fuel pump is going but he cant find it does anyone know where it is located?

A: follow a fuel line from top of motor most will be on right side lower front of motor and if its bad car wil not run at all check your fuel filter as well want to get pump pull a fuel line give motr a bump see fuel squirt it works

type into search box

how to remove fuel pump 1968 firebird
how to check fuel pump

can give a tip when installing it grease push rod push it back up in motor to hold it in place while you slide pump back in

Q: what is the fastest engine that could fit in a 1991 camaro rs, Plymouth Hemi, or a 1968 pontiac firebird?
one engine for every car

A: You could probably get a 427 Corvette engine into them with some modifications to the fender wells and perhaps the firewall. Maybe even the 454 if you sacrifice the hood. But in terms of the “fastest”, do you mean 0 to 60 or top speed? Each of those will depend on the gear ratio of your rear end and type of transmission. No simple answer here.

Q: How to tell the difference between 68 Camaro & 68 Firebird (disguised as a Camaro)
As many car hunters may have seen, some people have converted Firebirds into Camaros. All it really takes is maybe an engine swap, and some NOS sheet metal, and your Firebird is now a Camaro “clone”. And, as you may have already known, Camaros are worth a lot more than Firebirds of the same year.

I myself am looking at 1st gen Camaros, particularly the 1968 model.

Here’s my question:

Is there a way to tell the difference between a 1968 Camaro and a 1968 Firebird (Camaro “clone”) via VIN or Cowl tags?

I’ve seen pics of Firebirds that are identical to their Camaro cousins, but there must be a way to tell the difference aside from the aesthetics of the car.

Just asking so I don’t get ripped off buying a Camaro that’s really a Firebird.

Thanks!

A: Get the vin number from the plate on the bottom drivers side corner of the dash as it isn’t hard to replace the ones on the doors and make sure this one matches the door plates. The first 2 digits on a camaro vin will be 12 but on a firebird it will be 22 also the 7th digit is the model year it will be 7=1067 8=1968 and 9-1969 hope this helps ps get on the internet and look for 1st gen camaro site there are a bunch of them and the have alot of useful info try (http://www.chevy-camaro.com) also make sure the vin matches the car (engine, coupe-convert., and year)
