Q: purchased a used GMC sierra 1500. It has an on and off switch(PIAA) that was added on . Any ideas?
It has trailer hitch on it.

A: i own a repair shop,and it was probably an accessory for the trailer they pulled behind it, like auxiliary lights or something,id try it ad see if it does have power on it,its not going to hurt anything id you leave it there,who knows you might find a good use for it someday,when i bought my truck it had a harness for a winch in the back ,and i left it there,i may need it someday,good luck i hope this help,s.

Q: Blower motor on 01 GMC Sierra has become very loud, cabin air filter just replaced?
I have noticed that the blower motor on my used 2001 GMC Sierra is very loud and gets louder on speeds 3, 4, and 5. It almost sounds like something is clogging the airway. I just replaced the cabin air filter and it seems as though enough air is passing through the vents. Is this loud humming sound normal or is something wrong? Thanks

A: maybe there was alot of dirt on that filter, im not sure but maybe some of that fell in or maybe the motor could be going out. one other thing it could be is that it is rubbing on something in its container where its being held

Q: What kind of engine coolant/anti-freeze does a 1995 GMC Sierra use?
I need engine coolant/anti-freeze for my 1995 Sierra but I can’t seem to find what the reccomended type is in the owner’s manual.
It has a 350/ 5.7 litre engine and automatic transmission.
also has 175,000 miles on it if high mileage matters.

A: engine coolant isn’t specific to the type of car you drive, but it is specific to the climate you drive in, usually half coolant half water is a good mix, you can buy it premixed from and auto parts store, they do have two colors to choose from, one is pink and the other green, look to see what color you have and replace with the same color if your not going to drain the old fluids out, if you are draining the old stuff out then you can replace with any color you want.

Q: Where to buy new or used Front differential for GMC Sierra 3500 6.5 engine 4×4- in Toronto, or GTA Canada?
Need info where I can purchase new or used Front differential for above in the Toronto area. Fair prices or barter.

Q: In the 90 gmc sierra what transmission is used?
Well ihave a 1990 gmc sierra 2wd that has a chevy 350 small block and im not sure whether they used the 4L60E/4L60 transmission in the 90 model or if they used the 700R4. Would someone be able to help me out by telling me which one i have?

I am also curious, would the 4L60 and 700R4 fit on all of the small and big blocks? Also would the 4L80E work with a small block, and if so what is the benifit?
Or would it be the TH400 or TH350?

A: there should be a white sticker under the hood on the air cleaner, or on the fan shroud that has 5.7 L
700R4 or 4L60E (sometimes they are missing) these are both four speed automatic transmissions, a tranny shop familiar with them can tell which one is which. The computer the engine and transmission are year specific so what ever came from the factory is what gets rebuilt and put back in. Its best to rebuild what is in the truck if you can. Some years are interchangeable you need to double check and make sure.the TH 350 is a 3 speed automatic and smaller than the TH 400 you can also tell the difference by the shape of the pan.

Q: Where can I find a used 454 transmission for a ‘93 GMC Sierra?

A: Maybe you are having trouble finding one because you think it has to be a 454 transmission. Actually, all the V8s will bolt up and are basically the same up until 1998. You could actually use a powerglide 2 speed transmission out of a 1955 Chevrolet although it would require driveshaft modification(maybe, maybe not). Just ask the junk yard for a 1993 Chevrolet transmission for your truck. I think it will actually be a 4L60E electronic transmission. They will have one. Usually $500 will not buy it though. You might have to go to a junk yard where you pull your own parts. They are much cheaper.

they have a complete listings of used parts in your area. then you find what you need and call the salvage yard and ship it to you or have it sent to the repair shop. save you money on finding your own parts.

A: R-134, look at the shrader valve. R-134 shrader valve is larger than the R-12 one.

Q: My 2009 GMC Sierra remote engine start has a problem?
My 15 months old GMC Sierra has some difficulties starting using the remote key. although, when I lock or unlock doors the remote key works perfectly! but when I try to start the engine via the remote key, it starts hardly after 3 or 4 trials.
An observation: when I try to start engine from long distances, it usually works. while trying within 20 yards won’t make it from the first time.

Is it the remote key battery? or it could be a receiving problem?

A: Hello Thamer. I am well versed with the late body GM remote start systems. There are numerous requirements which have to be met before the PCM will allow remote start. Your vehicle is definitely covered under warranty. These questions should be put to your dealership. Your owner’s manual outlines how to operate the remote start functions. What I am trying to convey to you, without offense, is take your “under warranty” vehicle to the dealership and express your concerns. There is a set procedure for remote starting your truck’s engine. If there is a problem w/ the system, the best advice “we” can give you, is speak with the dealership service dept. Peace.

Q: What is the best/cheapest business or online website to order body parts for a ‘99 GMC sierra ext. cab pickup?
I have damage to almost the entire drivers side of my GMC Sierra pickup. I have the knowledge and tools to fix myself but I am curious if there is a great place to order these body parts from. Q: What are the power and mpg gains on a 03-06 GMC Sierra 5.3 using a Hypertech programmer.Other good products?
I was considering a BBK throttle body, Magnaflow exhaust, Jet MAF sensor, and Volant cold air intake. Im hoping to gain at least 40 hp and 4 or more mpg’s.If anyone has installed any of the following please post any numbers or opinions.

A: The exhaust will get you about 2-4 hp, Jet MAF sensor will do nothing without ram air, and the cold air intake will add hp on hot days, but nothing that you would notice. As far as the Hypertech goes there are several settings, ie hp, or fuel economy. You will not get both at the same time. The stock fuel injection system is better than the BBK.
