A: NO! Cars these days do not need additional rust proofing. Keep the money! (Don’t pay for scotch guarding either, you can do it your self with a can of scotch guard for less than ten bucks)

As we all know, gas isn’t getting any cheaper. I’ve heard good things about the Prius from research and a colleague who owns one. I thought I’d throw it out there on Yahoo Answers and get a wider range of opinions.
Is it worth it?
Is the mileage that good?
I live in winnipeg (where, if you don’t know, it gets REALLY cold in the winter) Is it dependable?
It’ll probably spend half it’s miles on the highway.
Winnipeg climate?
Summer can easily hit 30 celsius (high 80s)
Winter can easily go to 40 below (Celcius & Farenheit are the same on that one)

I do suggest changing the stock OE Goodyear Integrity tires out if you expect to see slippery road conditions, though, since they have a tendency to lose traction. Either do a seasonal switch to a good winter snow/traction tire, or just go with a better “all-season” M+S tire than the Integritys. With a good set of tires, the Prius is a great winter car.
In Canada, the Prius comes with a 96 month/160,000 km hybrid vehicle system warranty (which includes the hybrid battery pack), and that’s a full warranty (not pro-rated). Battery pack replacements are extremely rare in or out of warranty. And why buy a whole new pack from a dealer, when you could just replace an individual bad cell, or buy a used pack from a wrecked/salvage car for cheaper?
